At Neptune, the safety and well-being of both the property owner/occupant and our technicians are always our top priority. Rest assured that we are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and are maintaining precautionary safety measures developed in the summer of 2020 which have proven and remain successful. Neptune has completed over 150,000 installations across Canada since the beginning of the pandemic without incident. As part of the essential service of providing safe and clean drinking water to our utilities’ customers, we are committed to continuing best practices to prevent the spread of disease while ensuring a high level of customer service.
We continue to follow industry-leading best practices to protect both the property owner/occupant and our technicians:
- All installers are fully vaccinated.
- All installers complete health checks, including body temperature, three times a day. Any technician that shows any signs of illness/symptoms will be asked to stay home and self-isolate for 10 days.
- All installers wear N95 masks.
- In house installers wear new disposable gloves for each installation.
- In house installers will wear boot covers for each installation.
- The appropriate protocols will be used to properly don and doff safety gear.
- Installers will carry portable wash stations and hand sanitizer to wash/sanitize hands after each installation. This will be done with a soap and water solution or using an alcohol-based sanitizer that is greater than 60% alcohol.
- Installers will sanitize tools and PPE daily.
- Installers will call all homeowners prior to arrival and ask COVID-related health questions. If no answer, installer to ask questions upon arrival before entering. Installers will not proceed with work if owners/occupants report/display any symptoms.
- Installers will maintain a minimum of 6-feet separation from residents at all times.
- Installers will ask owner/occupants to open all doors and/or panels en route to the water meter wherever possible.
- Installers will ask owner/occupants to remove any objects surrounding the water meter.
- We have altered our practices so that an owner/occupant is no longer required to provide a signature before work starts or after the work is complete.
- Installers will sanitize interior and exterior vehicle door handles daily.
- Although statistics show that the installations are being done safely, all homeowners have the ability to delay their appointment to a date later in the year if they wish.
